Job Description

Your company is selling a travel and holiday experience. How well that experience matches the expectation which people have formed from the brochure, their knowledge of the resort and of your company, depends largely on the support and services they get from your team of resort representatives.

Careful preparation is vital, checking that the transfer, hotel, tour, entertainment and other arrangements are all in place, passing on details of any special requirements (such as for a ground floor room with facilities for someone in a wheelchair), and liaising over final numbers, and names. You will be the local expert, and should know the best places for holidaymakers to drink, eat and visit, and who can help in an emergency - the doctors, chemists, even the police. Complaints should be acted on quickly.

A strong, professional relationship with hotel staff, restaurateurs and the other people in contact with your customers will often prove the key to sorting out problems. You must be a capable administrator and communicator, so that head office has useful feedback on your resort, can quickly find out what happened should things go wrong, monitor quality and make informed decisions for the future. At regular intervals, you will make a health and safety inspection of your hotels, checking issues such as fire escape access and provision for any guests with mobility difficulties. For next season's holidays, you may be asked to check proposed hotels and tour arrangements. You will be responsible for ensuring that new members of your team get adequate training to prepare them for the challenges of their job.
